Windgap Transition to Work (TTW) is a 2 year program offering participants and their families a boutique, person-centred program promoting work and life skills in a wide range of industries for school leavers.
The program is designed to provide hands on work experience in a range of working environments. The various work experience options offer competency based learning to secure sustainable employment. As part of the Windgap Transition to Work (TTW) program, young people will embark on a variety of meaningful work experiences in the areas of horticulture; retail; warehouse and production; customer service and hospitality.
The Windgap TTW program caters to the individual needs of each client through a personalised employment plan which include personal development, employability skills and work experience. Participants and their families choose and plan their own journey providing them with empowerment, independence and fulfilment. The program involves a range of work experience placements. TTW is aligned with local businesses to assist in achieving clients’ goals.
Some of the work experience options over the past year have been:
Fabulous Food @ Florence – A program where participants meet and greet, collect orders and money, and prepare and deliver food to around 40 customers each Thursday.

Windgap staff are trained, experienced and knowledgeable in all areas of the program to assist and support each participant in reaching their personal goals.
The relationship between Windgap and families is an integral part of the program. Windgap meets regularly with the participants and their families to ensure satisfaction and service improvement.

Fab Food Program
On Thursdays, Transition to Work group trains in improving and developing cooking and hospitality skills. The program includes: training in creating the menu, independent shopping skills, taking orders and money handling, food preparation, following health and safety regulations, food distribution and clean up.
They offer their delicious, cafe standard menu which ranges from BBQ chicken panini w/ basil pesto to mushroom, olive and semi-dried tomato tarts to many other delicious and healthy options for Windgap staff, supported employees and clients.
In the near future, Windgap is hoping to build a commercial kitchen for our TTW clients to offer their great tasting menus to public and operate a great business opportunity for our clients.
