Transitioning from high school into the wider-world can be an exciting yet overwhelming change.

Windgap’s transition from school and work experience programs are designed to provide choice, support and the skills needed, to create pathways to future employment opportunities for young adults with disability.

Our tailored work experience programs offer a range of opportunities within a variety of supported employment enterprises at Windgap, offering real on-the-job work experience, skill training and personal development, during years 11 and 12.


On-The-Job Work Experience

Windgap’s 8 week work experience program offers a variety of roles in:

  • Growability – our residential and commercial garden maintenance and lawn care team.
  • Hospitality – our Tukka Box Café provides barista skills, catering and customer service.
  • Warehouse – team work in picking and packing, and process work.
  • Office Administration and Reception – working at Windgap’s Head Office and reception area.


Workplace Training and Development

In addition to on-the-job training, Windgap’s Learning and Life Skills Hub also provides:

  • Classroom and online learning modules – job readiness and confidence in a work environment, workplace etiquette, WH&S, and resume writing.
  • Skill tracking and Easy Read development reports provided.
  • Mentoring / Buddy Program with Windgap Supported Employees.
  • Graduation ceremony at the end of the 8 week program.
  • Other community inclusion opportunities provided.



How To Apply

Our Work Experience program is available for groups of up to 8 through your year 11 and 12 school. Alternatively, Windgap can also accept applications from individuals looking to transition into Supported Employment for those 18 years and older.
